Battlefield of the mind : Chapter 1 Reflection / Analysis


The Importance of the Mind  

    How can we express the importance of our thoughts sufficiently to convey the true meaning of Proverbs 23:7 "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee." 

You are what you think. Before starting Chapter 1 Meyers begins by letting us know the importance of our mind being the forerunner of our actions. Romans 8:5 is referenced with a clear statement "For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit."  Linking how our rooted patterns of thought decide the outcome of our life experiences whether negative or positive. 

However, she leaves open a window of a solution and encouragement for us by quoting 2 Corinthians, layered with the process of time and study of the Word of God that we realign our thoughts with God's thoughts. Our lives will start to transform for the better and we will begin to see God's plan for us. 

I marinated in this introduction for about 2 days I began to think about the many thought patterns I had recently discussed with my therapist. Whenever

Highlights

The Devil does not tell us the entire lie all at one time. (pg 7.)

One of the devil's strong points is patience (pg 7.)

Genuine praise from the heart defeats the devil quicker than any other weapon. (pg 11.) 

Mary's Stronghold's 
- "When I get away from here, nobody is ever going to push me around again!" (pg 11.)
- "Satan was already waging war on the battlefield of her mind. Play those thoughts over and over in your head a hundred thousand times or more. (pg 11.) 
- Mary learns to use her weapons to be set free. (pg 12.)
